The Community Agreement
A work-in-progress, with help from you!
Throughout 2024, the KCTSI committee constructed the first draft of the community standards agreement. It is our hope that this agreement can represent all of the fair-minded KC artists and companies working to better our industry, but the agreement does not start or end with the committee. We need feedback from the entire KC theatre community to fully represent the intentions and enactment of the agreement.
Please view the January 2025 draft of the agreement below, and click "Contribute Now" to give us your feedback. We do collect names on the forms, so anonymous feedback is not an option. We are seeking full-disclosure, transparent feedback from KC theatre workers and leaders. Your feedback will be read, processed, and analyzed within the confines of the document by the KCTSI committee, whose names are listed at the bottom of our About page.
This should not be considered the “final” or published version. This is simply the rough draft. Any feedback you provide at this phase is you joining the conversation, getting your voice heard. Feedback will be processed by the committee, but not in a vacuum. It’s all interactive (that’s the point).
The Theatre Safety Initiative document is, first and foremost, a resource and a living document. It is not a legal document, and should not be treated as such. What this document provides is a set of standards and best practices for the production of safe, effective, and well-considered theatre.
Signing this document will signal a commitment to keep the well-being of workers first and foremost in mind throughout a production, no matter the scale. It is possible to create passionate, intense, controversial, and serious work within a safe work environment.
We are working to create an abridged/outline version of the entire document as an easier-to-digest guide. See resources below.
To keep up-to-date on how your feedback is being applied to the future of KCTSI, view our Edit Recordkeeping sheet!
